Formation process

1. Quartz growth
   • Forms in volcanic cavities (geodes) when silica-rich fluids cool and crystallize
   • Iron impurities give the quartz its purple color
2. Inclusion development
   • During growth, other minerals (often calcite or chalcedony) become trapped inside
   • These inclusions form plume-like or radiating patterns
3. Layered crystallization
   • Changes in temperature, pressure, or chemistry during growth create zoning and patterns
   • This results in the soft, petal-like “flower” structures
